Goop (Santa Monica, Calif.), the retail company owned by actress Gwyneth Paltrow, is facing potential shut down in the U.K. after the retailer failed to file its accounts with the government agency Companies House (Cardiff, U.K.), a U.K. registrar for companies. Though the retailer’s “strike-off” process was suspended last week, it has received several notices in the past – one being in 2019.

Companies House gave Goop a second notice for a “compulsory strike-off” this past April, meaning Goop could be dissolved two months after receiving the notice and be removed from the U.K. registrar. Goop has been registered in the U.K since 2011.

The company is also currently facing a lawsuit in the U.S. from Colby Watson of Texas, who claims a candle he purchased – “This Smells Like My Vagina” candle that previously made headlines – became “engulfed in high flames” and “exploded” after he burned the candle for three hours, CNBC reports. A spokesperson for Goop has said the claim is “frivolous.”
