Officeworks has partnered with Recycle Mate to raise awareness of the school and office supplies retailer as a key destination for e-waste recycling.

Recycle Mate’s flagship app allows users to search location-specific disposal advice for a specific product.

With the partnership, all 169 Officeworks stores nationwide will be offered to those seeking to recycle computers, laptops, printers, ink cartridges, pens, and markers and other tech accessories through its free Bring it Back Program.

“Creating a place where our community can safely recycle old, unwanted or damaged products such as laptops, tablets, ink cartridges and pens and markers is a small part of some of our much larger, long term business goals and supports our target of recycling 17,000 tonnes of waste by 2025,” said Brendan Hargreaves, CFO at Officeworks.

“The program is community driven so the more people get involved, the better it gets for everyone. Our partnership with Officeworks is working to enhance community awareness about the opportunity to return old items to Officeworks stores and direct them to their nearest options in one easy step – helping to prevent valuable materials from ending up in landfill,” said Lara Barclay, Recycle Mate program lead.

Officeworks, in partnership with Moorup, also offers a device trade-in program which allows customers to replace their old gadgets with something new ahead of the Black Friday and Christmas sales.
