Polestar, the electric car manufacturer, has agreed to lease a 2,495 sq ft unit on a 10-year lease at Cribbs Mall, Bristol. The site will be its first in the South West and its fifth in the UK, as it seeks to continue its expansion and encourage more people to choose electric vehicles. The new Polestar showroom, named Polestar Cribbs, will feature its range of electric cars including the sports car/grand tourer Polestar 1, the compact executive car Polestar 2 and the recently launched mid-size luxury crossover SUV Polestar 3. The electric cars are designed with refined performance and cutting-edge technology, aimed at accelerating the change to a fully electric, climate-neutral future.

Customers can complete orders or reserve a Polestar through the Polestar App or website, either from the comfort of their own home in their own time, or with the guidance of a Polestar Specialist in their chosen Space. Polestar Cribbs, like previous openings at London’s Battersea Power Station and Manchester’s Trafford Centre, will showcase how the brand is changing the face of the traditional automotive retail model.

Cribbs Mall has been working with South Gloucestershire Council to install 26 charging points across the centre. The mall aims to support the growth of sustainable travel across Bristol and the South West, with the charging points being just the start of its larger EV charging points roll-out.

Portfolio Director at M&G Real Estate, Scott Linard said, “It is fantastic news that Polestar has selected Cribbs Mall as its first showroom in the South West. Now more than ever it is important to encourage sustainable travel and Polestar’s new showroom will help to showcase the role electric vehicles can play in helping to reduce the UK’s carbon emissions.”

Jonathan Goodman, Head of Polestar UK, said, “We continue to change the face of the traditional automotive retail model with our direct-to-consumer digital-first approach and our Bristol Space will feature the same state-of-the-art minimalist design and allow our customers, not us, to define and shape the experience they have with Polestar. With no sales pressure, an intimate environment and cutting-edge technology we continue to put the fun back into buying a car.”

Cribbs Mall recently welcomed five new retailers including toy store The Entertainer, global fashion brand Mango, arts and crafts supplier The Works, fast-growing retailer Suit Direct, and luxury beauty specialist Rituals.

Cribbs Mall is home to more than 150 shops and restaurants, employing over 6,000 people from within a 20-mile radius. The mall serves both local and national businesses by providing a major regional hub for UK and international retailers. Time Retail Partners and Cushman & Wakefield are Cribbs Mall’s retained letting agents.

This new showroom comes at a time when the British Government is pushing to end the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030. The introduction of electric cars and the infrastructure to support them is crucial for the UK’s push towards a net-zero future. The move to electric cars has also been boosted by improving technology, lower costs, and a growing awareness of the need to reduce carbon emissions.

The opening of Polestar Cribbs is seen as an important step in encouraging more people to choose electric vehicles and to help reduce the UK’s carbon emissions. As a city committed to a sustainable future, choosing Bristol as the destination for its next Polestar Space was a no-brainer, according to Jonathan Goodman. Polestar Cribbs is located in a pivotal retail destination in the South West, making it easier than ever for customers to interact with the brand.
