Australia’s Jaycar Electronics Group is set to acquire New Zealand-based outdoor equipment retailer Burnsco.

The 100 per cent Kiwi-owned and managed business operates 16 stores across New Zealand selling camping, boating, fishing gear and accessories.

In a LinkedIn announcement, the retailer said Burnsco has a “significant market-leading” retail footprint across New Zealand with strategic site locations placed on or close to the country’s largest marinas and in major retail precincts.

“It has consistently exhibited strong sales growth and is a very complementary business to Road Tech Marine in Australia that we are very keen on.”

The acquisition allows the Jaycar Group to extend its marine and outdoor expertise into New Zealand and operate the Burnsco business as a stand-alone enterprise.

“The acquisition also provides a tremendous opportunity for our team in New Zealand as part of a larger group to grow within the organisation as we continue our exciting growth across ANZ.”
