Bluemercury will relocate its headquarters from the Washington, D.C. area, where the beauty retailer was founded in 1999, to New York City. The company, which was purchased by Macy’s in 2015, will join fellow Macy’s brand Bloomingdale’s in the JACX building in Long Island City, Queens in August 2023.
“As we strive to be the ultimate specialist in the beauty of our clients, we want to align our home base with the epicenter of beauty,” said Maly Bernstein, CEO of Bluemercury in a statement. “Many of our partner brands are based in New York, including much of our Macy’s, Inc. family, enabling even stronger collaboration with partners and within our portfolio to realize greater efficiencies and outcomes.”
The move to NYC aligns with the brand’s highest concentration of U.S. stores as well as its growing employee population in the area and access to top industry talent. Bluemercury operates 178 locations across the country, including 158 standalone stores.
