The forecourt site, which has served the village since 2012, has remained open during the refurbishment. The 3,000sq ft store now features a Graham Eyes High Class Butchers counter, which offers a selection of loose and pre-packed produce, sausages, and homemade ready meals.

The new deli counter features pies and freshly baked bread from Clayton Park Bakery, hot and cold deli produce, and made-to-order sandwiches.

The new deli also includes Asian spiced produce from Bolton’s Fazila Foods, including samosas, curries and spiced sandwiches. Fazilas’ frozen range of samosas and pizzas are also available in the store.

In addition, the store also features Spar’s freshly ground Fairtrade 100% Arabica coffee brand, Cheeky Coffee, F’Real milkshakes and a Tango Ice Blast machine.

The forecourt site also has 10 Texaco fuel pumps, air and water, and a jet wash facility.

Fiona Drummond, company-owned stores director at James Hall & Co, said: “The coronavirus pandemic has encouraged customers to stay close to home and demand more from their local convenience store. James Hall & Co introduced a Graham Eyes butchery counter to Spar Maryport in January 2021 and we have had a fantastic response from customers, delighted that they can now pick up great fresh meat alongside their everyday Spar essentials.

“We look forward to welcoming new and existing customers to enjoy Spar Alston’s latest offering, with all relevant Covid-19 safety measures implemented across the site.”
