British luxury brand Burberry (London) has named Jonathan Akeroyd as its new CEO beginning April 2022, reports Reuters. Akeroyd, who joins the company from Milan-based Versace, will succeed current CEO Marco Gobbetti, who announced his departure in June.

“Jonathan is an experienced leader with a strong track record in building global luxury fashion brands and driving profitable growth,” Burberry Chair Gerry Murphy said.

Akeroyd oversaw the sale of Versace to then-Michael Kors group, now known as Capri Holdings in 2018. Before joining the Italian brand, he led the relaunch of Alexander McQueen from 2004-2016.
