rue21 Expands Size-Inclusive Product Offerings to 36 More Stores

Specialty retailer rue21 continues to invest in its size-inclusive product offering, extending its plus-size fashion to an additional 36 stores. This move makes its XS-4X clothing now available in 444 stores, or more than 65% of its brick-and-mortar locations.

“We care about our customers and believe that our brand plays a key role in their life when it comes to promoting body positivity and inclusivity — this is part of rue21’s DNA,” said Catherine Morisano, Chief Merchandising Officer of rue21 in a statement.

In December 2020, the retailer also recruited retail executive Candace Kearney, who joined rue21 from plus-size fashion retailer Torrid. She is now leading the company’s growing plus and dress business, and helping lead its ecommerce teams to reach more customers in these categories.

“For us, it’s more than reaching our goal of having an inclusive shopping experience in every store, but about giving all girls the opportunity to decide what story they want to tell — and be able to shop for the same on-trend fashion together,” Kearney said in a statement.

Additionally, in-store rue21 associates now receive training on the fit process and are better able to promote an inclusive shopping experience.
