The Vitamin Shoppe has launched its first-ever franchise store in Greensboro, N.C., marking the beginning of the retailer’s new franchising growth strategy.
The Greensboro store is an existing location previously operated by The Vitamin Shoppe and now converted to a franchise unit. The store will be run by a group of entrepreneurs who own and operate multiple businesses in the region, including hotels, restaurants, real estate property management and retail. In addition to renovating the Greensboro store into The Vitamin Shoppe’s updated “Innovation” format, the partners also plan to open three new stores within their franchise territory in greater Greensboro by 2024.

The Greensboro store represents a milestone in The Vitamin Shoppe’s 45-year history, offering independent retail operators the opportunity to open stores in their communities for the first time since the company’s founding, with the goal of expanding the retailer’s footprint across the U.S. The company’s franchise model also rewards franchise partners for driving online and app sales within their territory in order to create a seamless omnichannel experience for both franchisees and their customers.
