Afterpay Australian Fashion Week reveals the brands you’ll see on the stage

This year’s Afterpay Australian Fashion Week will focus on sustainability, as well as highlighting Australia’s First Nation designers, and will run between 31 May and 4 June at Carriageworks, Sydney.

According to the event’s schedule, announced today, the event will also be held virtually and will honor a number of the biggest names in Australian fashion, such as Daphne Nguyen, Emma Jarman, and Gadir Rajab – as well as rising star Jordan Dalah, who will open the first day.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with IMG to create a world-class event that supports Australian designers both on a local and international stage,” said Afterpay co-founder Nick Molnar.

“With Australian fashion designers being the founding partners and the core of Afterpay, this year will see us champion and foster both emerging and established designers through various consumer shows like never before.”

The event will also host a number of panel discussions and special events led by industry veterans, and will feature ‘future of fashion’ runway focusing on sustainable practices, and an ‘indigenous fashion projects’ program highlighting leading First Nations designers.

The opening presentation will be held first for industry players, before being opened up to consumers who have purchased tickets to an ‘encore’ performance – an evolution of the growing sense of immediacy and see-now-buy-now attitude felt across the Fashion Show model.

“AAFW is a momentous occasion to showcase the unmatched creative talent of the Australian fashion industry to the world,” said Vice President and Managing Director of IMG Fashion Events and Properties Natalie Xenita.

“This season’s incredible schedule of designers, fashion events and programming will strengthen AAFW’s position as the leading fashion event in the region.”
