The number of Nisa stores using the company’s Evolution electronic point-of-sale (EPoS) system has risen by a quarter in the last year, says the group.

This means nearly 550 stores now have the system, a figure that is expected to go well past 700 in 2022.

Nearly 200 (190) were installed in 2021.

Nisa’s IT service delivery manager, Chris Chadwick, said: “Throughout 2021, the Epositive team faced a lot of uncertainty as we navigated the ever-evolving world of IT that continues to be shaped by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Despite being faced with multiple hurdles over the last 12 months, we have seen the largest growth in one year since Evolution launched in 2015.”

Installations saw a particular uplift in the second half of last year as many Nisa stores opted to fit self-checkouts to allow customers to shop safely amid rising Covid-19 cases.

Chadwick added: “2022 is set to be a big year for us, with numerous exciting innovations and advancements in the pipeline that will help transform the way our partners [retailers] do business.”
