Batteries Plus has hired Derek Detenber as its new Chief Marketing and Merchandising Officer. In the role of CMMO, Detenber will lead teams across omnichannel marketing, design, category and merchandising to tell the Batteries Plus story.

Batteries Plus is in expansion mode; the retailer expects to add 60 franchised stores and open an additional 55 stores by the end of 2022.

“Derek is highly regarded as one of the top marketing executives in the industry and I have the utmost confidence in his ability to drive our future marketing and merchandising success,” said Scott Williams, CEO of Batteries Plus in a statement.

Prior to his hire at Batteries Plus, Detenber served as CMO for Artisanal Brewing Ventures where he led brand strategy, new product development and marketing. Before working with ABV, Detenber served as SVP of Marketing for Massage Envy, and earlier experience in franchise businesses included serving as VP of Brand Management for The Wendy’s Company.
