Woolworths has made it possible for Australian shoppers to pay by QR code, launching one of the first digital wallets in the country to read the codes.

The new feature allows shoppers to seamlessly pay and update their Everyday Rewards points using a QR code, eliminating the need for processes at the end of a transaction.

Customers need to add their credit/debit or gift card details to the payment preferences in their Everyday Rewards app which is now a digital wallet, then use the built-in QR code scanner at checkout to make payments and gain points on the company’s loyalty program.

Everyday MD, Hannah Ross said Everyday Pay has been designed to ensure speedy and easy contactless payment for the retailer’s customers.

“By integrating the ease of QR code payments, with our Everyday Rewards app, we can save customers time at the checkout and help ensure they never miss a rewards point again.”

Everyday Pay will be available across all Woolworths supermarkets, Metro and Big W stores nationwide. Shoppers can receive e-receipts on the Everyday Rewards app.
